Orange Corners Sudan January 2019 – Official opening

On 24 January, Orange Corners Sudan celebrated the start of its 6-months incubation programme for Sudanese entrepreneurs in Khartoum. The programme provides 20 talented young innovators with expert training and mentorship as well as access to networks and supply-chains to start and grow their company. Orange Corners is an initiative of the Kingdom of the Netherlands executed by local entrepreneurship platform 249 Startups and in partnership with Major Sudanese companies : Haggar Group, Elnefeidi Group, CTC Group and Yagoub Group.

Orange Corners Sudan will annually support 40 young Sudanese entrepreneurs. The initiative supports the creation of sustainable jobs by providing selected entrepreneurs with access to collaborative workplaces, intensive training, business development support, networks and masterclasses.  Orange Corners Sudan connects entrepreneurs to potential funders and provides world-class mentorship by executive partners from the private sector.

Ambassador of the Kingdom of The Netherlands to Sudan Dr. Karin Boven: “Our mission is to establish an innovative support system for entrepreneurs in Sudan and truly partner with them in their business journeys.  Orange Corners gives young promising entrepreneurs the change to further develop their innovative and entrepreneurial skills. At the same time, it serves as a bridge between these innovative entrepreneurs and local and international companies. This makes Orange Corners a great benefit to all parties involved”.

Orange Corners Sudan is part of a growing international network of entrepreneurial hubs and is already exploring further steps to expand to Kassala. Orange Corners have also been launched in other African and Middle Eastern countries including South Africa, Mozambique, Angola, Morocco, Côte d’Ivoire, Iraq and Ghana.

The Orange Corners official opening took place at the 249 Startups hub in Al Manshia  on Thursday 24th of January 2019 & will kick off on Saturday 2nd of February 2019 where 20 entrepruners will move to work from the 249Startups Hub .Attendees of the event include the 20 entrepreneurs & their parents ,  Startups Founders , Entrepreneurs & Corporates Leaders .

Notable attendees included the Director of the African Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from the Netherlands, Mr.Alle Dorhout  , Deputy Head of Mission at Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands  , Mr.Sjored Smit  and the CEO of Haggar Group, Mr.Anthony Haggar , CEO of Elnefeidi Group, Dr.Ahmed Elnefeidi  and CEO of Yagoub Group, Mr.Hisham Salih Yagoub and Mr.Khalid from CTC Group .
